Ebook Bad with Money The Imperfect Art of Getting Your Financial Sh*t Together Audible Audio Edition Gaby Dunn Simon Schuster Audio Books
The beloved writer-comedian expands on her popular podcast with an engaging and empowering financial literacy audiobook for Millennials and Gen Z.Â
In the first episode of her Bad with Money podcast, Gaby Dunn asked patrons at a coffee shop two questions First, what's your favorite sex position? Everyone was game to answer, even the barista. Then, she asked how much money was in their bank accounts. People were aghast. "That's a very personal question," they insisted. And therein lies the problem.
Dunn argues that our inability to speak honestly about money is our number-one barrier to understanding it, leading us to feel alone, ashamed, and anxious, which in turns makes us feel even more overwhelmed by it. In Bad with Money, she reveals the legitimate, systemic reasons behind our feeling of helplessness when it comes to personal finance, demystifying the many signposts on the road to getting our financial shit together, like how to choose an insurance plan or buy a car, sign up for a credit card or take out student loans. She speaks directly to her audience, offering advice on how to make that #freelancelyfe work for you, navigate money while you date, and budget without becoming a Nobel-winning economist overnight.
Even a topic as notoriously dry as money becomes hilarious and engaging in the hands of Dunn, who weaves her own stories with the perspectives of various comedians, artists, students, and more, arguing that - even without selling our bodies to science or suffering the indignity of snobby thrift-shop buyers - we can all start taking control of our financial futures.Â

Bad with Money The Imperfect Art of Getting Your Financial Sh*t Together Audible Audio Edition Gaby Dunn Simon Schuster Audio Books Reviews
- Dunn is a great writer who makes finances approachable and interesting. She mixes advice with personal stories and experiences which make a book on finances much more readable. My only criticism is that this is really aimed toward young adults who are still in college. I’m in my mid twenties and though I found parts very helpful, a lot was more pertinent to students in their early college years. Much of this advice I think I was already familiar with but that could just be due to my age and having a bit more financial experience than say a 20 year old. I still highly recommend this book, if anything it’s an interesting and quick read. I also plan to give a copy to my younger sister who is 18 and would highly benefit.
- Gives good tips and explanations for young adults who are starting out as well as interesting life stories. I'd recommend borrowing it from the library and only purchasing if you really love it.
- I loved this book. As a twenty something I found Dunn’s personal anecdotes relatable and insightful. She does a great job of offering realistic advice, while also acknowledging the systemic issues (race/class/gender/sexuality) inherent in capitalism. As others have said, it never feels preachy unlike most financial books. Will likely be returning to this book to reference particular chapters. Worth buying in my opinion.
- I love memoirs, and this book is a perfect combination of a memoir and financial guide. Great for people like me who have little to no knowledge of the complexities of personal finance, and probably great for those who do as well! I love the interviews with experts in the industry as well as high school students and “normal people†who share their own experiences and decisions with money. It is very easy to read this in Gaby’s voice.
- Whitty, charming, hilarious, and helpful. I definitely recommend this book
- Love the title and giving as a gift to my daughter.
- Funny, clever advice for the $$$ challenged.
- Very true to real life styles and engaging with real life situations that we may all be in at one or unfortunately more in our life. Great book to share with the young adults who struggle or just beginning. I know that I ha e already told the college to my daughter moving into that next chapter in her life.
