- When I finished this book, I turned around and read it again! I read 100+ books every year, and this is in my top 2 for this year. The stories are magical in the sense that they pick the reader up and carry you away to some far off place, and you get the pleasure of a peek inside the hunter's mind. After each story, I was excited to see where the next adventure would take me. The writing has that special mix of easy to read yet deeply enjoyable and satisfying. This is a must for any serious outdoorsman in your life. I can think of 3 people that are going to get this book as a present from me over the coming year.
- Eyad has the unique ability to present his experiences in a manner that makes it "almost as good as being there"! He is humble and honest about his experiences, traits not always commonly found in the world today. I have had the pleasure of hunting with many of the same individuals and places Eyad has, and reading his book brought back found memories of my experiences as well. I heartily recommend this book to any and all outdoorsman, particularly those who are thinking the "stick and string" might be for them, but have not yet taken that plunge! Well written, awesome book!
- Anyone looking for an expression of the deeper meaning found in the hunting lifestyle need look no further than this book. The author details the evolution of a hunter through his own personal journey covering the highs and lows of the hunting experience in addition to the often emotional and even spiritual moments that are found afield. An excellent job is done by the author illustrating how the journey soon comes full-circle as he describes seeing his own children begin the process of experiencing the hunt. This book had me laughing at times, others it had me captivated by the far away adventures, but most of all it had me reflecting on life’s journey as a husband, father, and bowhunter. If you are looking for a wonderful collection of work to enjoy at home or your hunting camp this book will not disappoint.
- I have never hunted anything in my life, so I found this book incredibly insightful and educational. I was afraid that I might find it boring, as it's not a passion of mine, but it was actually quite entertaining. Kudos to the author for his balance of technical information, personal insight, and story telling.

Eyad utilizes a beautifully linguistic manner in describing the full sensory experience of the adventures he takes on his journey pursuing big game of North America (and some African game, as well). Reading the book, he takes you deep into the mind of the hunter, explaining how mishaps can turn into learning experiences, with ultimate redemption. From far off places, hunting musk ox and mountain goat, to more typical game, such as deer and turkey, the collection of short stories are sure to grab your attention, and transport you to his side as he finds the beauty in nature around all of us - if you stop and notice!
- I grew up in a slightly different generation when hunting was a little simpler.It seems like all of todays articles,books and hunting shows focus solely on "how many and how big" while leaving out the beauty of the hunt.This author takes you with him on the journey and reminds you that there are more important things like learning you don't always have to fill a tag to have a great hunt.I love the pictures and the stories emphasize the importance of family and friends in our lives.
- Eyad did a fantastic job on this book. He really made you feel like you were a part of these hunts with such descriptive dialogue and storytelling of events as they unfolded. Loved the way he incorporated the highs and lows involved with life, as well as hunting in this book. As real as it gets.
